How energy deregulation saves CT consumers money

Many people do not know what deregulation is, or the fact that Connecticut is now a deregulated market!

Today we will be focusing on how the consumer saves money on their electric bills, and how to sign up for this service.

  • How it works
    • Your local supplier (CL&P or UI) currently charges you an X amount per kw that you use. The local supplier also charges you a delivery fee as well.
    • Up until 2007, the local utilities had great prices where national suppliers could not compete.
    • However, with the rising prices of CT's energy, the time is perfect to save by switching the supplier portion of your bill.
    • CL&P, or UI, whomever is your local supplier will continue to bill you and deliver your energy, but the customer will save money by lowering his/her rate that he/she pays.
  • How to sign up for the service
    • please note that this service is 100% free, no signup costs to save money. it is your RIGHT to choose a supplier.
    • Step 1- Find your utility bill.
    • Step 2- Call a local GES agent (860-538-5188)
    • Step 3- GES agent will discuss with you the different rates and alternatives available. You choose what you think works best for you, and start saving money!
      • your electric bill is GUARANTEED to decrease in the price that you will be charged for your energy consumption.
      • no signup costs, no cancellation charges = pure savings!
