US Headed into a Great Depression?
This article has nothing to do with energy. What it does have something to do with is the value of the falling dollar. According to this front page article on a UK newspaper the price of everything is going up. However, the dollar is losing its value, so therefore everything is going up in price.

Quote of the day....I got a laugh out of it.
As economist Murray Rothbard noted in Power and Market:
The very term "public utility" … is an absurd one. Every good is useful "to the public," and almost every good … may be considered "necessary." Any designation of a few industries as "public utilities" is completely arbitrary and unjustified.[5]

CL&P Residential Rates since 2006
I called up CL&P today and got the following historical rates:
Dec 2006- 10.768 kw/hr
Jan 2007- 11.230 kw/hr
July 2007- 11.606 kw/hr
Jan 2008- 11.780 kw/hr
I also asked them when the next rate change will be. Customer service representative told me that it will be on June 1st, 2008.
I believe this is because CL&P knows electrical energy usage will rise in the summer with use of air conditioners.
Please call a GES agent today. They can help you save money on your electric bills by locking you in at a rate that is LOWER than the current rate, and will STAY LOWER when CL&P moves their rate on June 1st.

How energy deregulation saves CT consumers money
Many people do not know what deregulation is, or the fact that Connecticut is now a deregulated market!
Today we will be focusing on how the consumer saves money on their electric bills, and how to sign up for this service.
Today we will be focusing on how the consumer saves money on their electric bills, and how to sign up for this service.
- How it works
- Your local supplier (CL&P or UI) currently charges you an X amount per kw that you use. The local supplier also charges you a delivery fee as well.
- Up until 2007, the local utilities had great prices where national suppliers could not compete.
- However, with the rising prices of CT's energy, the time is perfect to save by switching the supplier portion of your bill.
- CL&P, or UI, whomever is your local supplier will continue to bill you and deliver your energy, but the customer will save money by lowering his/her rate that he/she pays.
- How to sign up for the service
- please note that this service is 100% free, no signup costs to save money. it is your RIGHT to choose a supplier.
- Step 1- Find your utility bill.
- Step 2- Call a local GES agent (860-538-5188)
- Step 3- GES agent will discuss with you the different rates and alternatives available. You choose what you think works best for you, and start saving money!
- your electric bill is GUARANTEED to decrease in the price that you will be charged for your energy consumption.
- no signup costs, no cancellation charges = pure savings!
